Hilton, no ersatz country house cobbled together from a marketing man’s imagination, is a genuine ancestral home that has evolved from a place of privileged private pleasure to one that shares its charms with a few discerning travellers, most of whom are returning for the second or umpteenth time: they know they will not be mown down by riotous incentive groups or be squeezed out by international conventions. We have kept to six bedrooms, so that every guest has space and can enjoy the tranquillity of this beautiful place and so that we can personally see to it that every guest gets the most from their visit. To complete this insulation from external annoyances, there are neither telephones nor televisions in the bedrooms.
