This is music with a big heart.  It deserves a big audience.”  Hot Press Magazine 21 April 2011.

ANTHONY CRONIN

Look if Anthony needs an introduction then you have been dead for the last sixty years. His presence is a great honour for Flatlake.

LOUIS DE PAOR

Reading new poems in Irish with bastardised translations in English.Louis has a long flowing mane of red hair and looks like the type of client in a tunic with  a brooch that might cleave you with a spear in the 'old days',shouting 'fag an bhealach!' or just 'Rrrrr!'

ANNE HAVERTY

Anne is one of Irelands' most respected writers. Some people say 'girl' writers don't they? But we think that is stupid.

Listening to McCabe's pastoral gibberish is worth the entrance fee alone.

CROW BLACK CHICKEN

This band has been chosen to play at the Flat Lake coz we love their name and nothing to do with the battle of the bands for a gig at Glastonbury thing that they recently one won.

KITESMITHS

Although a good name for a speedy metal band, they actually just fly kites .... loads of 'em ...in the sky above our Flat Lake heads.... for any of you kite geeks they fly mainly single line, and usually try to get 20 or more up together, depending on space and weather.

How much air-space does a kite 'effin well need ?

CONAL CREEDON

Did you ever hear the weird Frank Zappa style lingo they have in Cork?

Ask Conal about it.

I love the nightlife, I love to boogie...

THE SONS OF ROBERT MITCHUM

These guys are rather Cool. The Sons of Robert Mitchum play modern neo-noir, from a dark night of forsaken city streets, vistas of blissful angst and unholy pilgrimage. Their songs reflect on deadly dames, drunken losers, dangerous hoods, crooked cops, broken dreams, flawed heroes, crime and punishment. Songs steeped in the neon glimmer of purgatory, dives, cigarettes and booze, bad livers and broken hearts. All tainted with the likes of Cave, Waits and Brel.

Bring the kids.

So tuck some of your work in with the tent, and bring it along to Kate on Saturday morning. She'll have the tea and the boxers boxty on.

DAVID MONAGAN

Mr. Radio Butty sez of this hot [when stolen] travel essay: "In Ireland Unhinged David Monagan is on the loose in a poisoned Eden littered with deflated bouncy castles, abandoned SUVs and Euro-funded motorways slicing through the ancient Hill of Tara. His book is incisive, wry and witty, but also coldly surgical and captures the zeitgeist perfectly... There's Mad Max stuff in here, 'Aisy Rider in the Land of the Bouncy Castle, a witness to almost unforgivable felo-de-se, unique in our history." Felo-de-se??? Comme ci, or comme ca.

SUZY ALMOND

"Hailing from the London and New York folk scenes, with the voice of a torch singer and a penchant for off-beat storytelling, Suzy Almond returns to Flatlake for the fourth year running with her own unique brand of alt-folk.

Heartfelt, political and thought provoking, Catherine Cunningham’s songs take her listeners on a journey through terrains beautiful and fantastical, lyrical and disturbing, poignant and irreverent.
As with the rest of nature, her songs pay little heed to notions of rules, expectations or categorization, but rather they question these and all the certainties we have come to believe in.   With song titles such as “Bothering the Dead”, “There are No Sheep in Heaven” and √2, you can expect that not only is the subject matter unusual, but so is its delivery.  A songwriter for the times we live in.

OLIVER MOORE & THE BOUDOIR SESSIONS
Ollie will present The Boudoir Sessions in his own custom made marquee -

A charming and disarming den of iniquity, with sounds and visions from the Edwardian era right up to the cusp of rock and roll.

So expect swing and cabaret, klezmer and calypso, mariachi and mento, a puff-of-smoke photo booth and some swell berries. Nice. Expect fresh faced close harmonies tag teaming with gypsy fiddling from Bohemia itself. And its all strait from the fridge Daddy oh.

In short, the look, feel and allure of global urbane nitelife around the middle of the last century,  with occasional contemporary affectations and meanders. Sorry, that wasn't really short, was it?

No, it flipping well wasn't.

MISS PAULA FLYNN
An enchanting balladeer, Miss Paula Flynn is blessed with crystal clarity of expression reminiscent of classic country singers such as June Carter Cash and more contemporary exponents like Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis. A soulful female, pure as driven snow. Her goosebump inducing vocals go down a storm.

She really gives it her all on stage.

SLOWFOOT

Slowfoot formed during the Great Recession Sessions at Carberry’s in Drogheda and return for their second Flatlake with 25% More Mojo than last year.  And that’s a lot of Mojo. A stomping mix of hillbilly blues and zydeco bluegrass that’ll put hair on your chest or at least get you up and dancing.

BLUE WALL ART GALLERY

LOUISIANA JOYRIDE

Louisiana Joyride started out as a 2–piece with a difference back in 2008.  The successful coupling of both Owen and Orla's vocals and guitar styles hinted from the offset LJ were offering something a little different. The pair quickly turned heads in local venues catching the attention of promoters and radio stations from an early stage, with an array of lyrically and musically engaging songs.  Joined down the line by Russty Li-Nesbitt on bass and currently on the hunt for a permanent drummer, LJ are still going strong with a second EP soon to be released and list of festival appearances throughout the UK and Ireland.

BLIND YACKETY

Morphine, Syncopated by a hand that feeds me stylish rhythms, i did pass upon a field of metaphors and sly decisions,
if being beats off nothingness then sitting feels quite grand, an ocean full of passion-fruit played into my right hand,
a demon by the name of ricky lifted up his shirt, as silent raindrops fell down from a sky just outside Gort,
he wasted all his peppered steak on hamlets Broken daughter, he fished Out of a dirty lake four spring lambs ripe for slaughter,

"Oh doctor doctor can't you see, my eyes are weak, my back is feeble, my pudding bowel is empty but for mice and fresh black treakle, oh doctor doctor give to me that gift that only you can give, my eyes are weak, my back is dim, a little taste just for my sins....

Steady on lads ...
